Our program is designed with an emphasis on developing basic ball hockey skills while teaching listening, following instructions, attention, focus and various motor skills.
Sessions are broken down as follows:
Stretching / Warm-Up Routine.
Rapid demos with a Hands-on approach on holding a stick, stick handling, passing and/or shooting.
Fun age appropriate games to implement the skills that were worked on in the rapid demos.
10-15 Minute Game at the end of each session to apply the skills that were worked on with further instruction from coaching staff.
Team work and anti-bullying is constantly promoted throughout our program.
Tying literacy with sport, ending every session with a story time.
Age Criteria
5-Under [5U] 3 to 5 yrs old and is open to children Under six years of age as of Dec. 31 of the current season.
We are aware that sometimes even though children may be younger than the required age group they may be able to participate in such groups at a similar level thus we can accept your child even if they are not quite 3 yrs of age.
*Children younger than six (6) years of age by the start of the program may be accepted into the program or recommended for our 7U Program.
BENEFITS OF THE HOCKEY BUDS PROGRAM
Help improve on ice skills. (Ice hockey at a young age will focus more on skating where ball hockey’s emphasis is on skills through fun exercises!)
Making friends.
